The Big Ten released its 2012-13 basketball schedule Thursday morning, and IU followed soon after with the official unveiling of this season’s slate, including a non-conference schedule. The team will only leave the state once this fall.
After kicking off the season at home against Bryant on Nov. 9, the Hoosiers will play the first of five games in the Legends Classic against North Dakota State on Nov. 12 in Assembly Hall.
IU will play Sam Houston State three days later before traveling to Brooklyn, N.Y., to take on Georgia and either UCLA or Georgetown on Nov. 19 and 20 in the final two games of the Classic at the Barclays Center.
North Carolina will make a trip to Bloomington for a matchup Nov. 27 in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge at Assembly Hall.
The final marquee non-conference game for the Hoosiers will take place Dec. 15 when IU and the Butler Bulldogs face off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for one of the two games of the Crossroads Classic. It is the only non-conference game besides the two Brooklyn contests that the team will not play in Assembly Hall.
IU will open its Big Ten slate on New Year’s Eve against Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hoosiers will then travel to Penn State on Jan. 7 before coming home to Bloomington for the team’s conference home opener against Minnesota on Jan. 12.
Other conference matchups for the Hoosiers at Assembly Hall include Wisconsin on Jan. 15, Michigan State on Jan. 27, Michigan on Feb. 2 when ESPN’s College Gameday comes to Assembly Hall, in-state rival Purdue on Feb. 16 and “Senior Night” on March 5 against Ohio State.
The Big Ten Tournament will take place this season March 14-17 in Chicago at the United Center.
