A self to recover

IU Art Museum

A special installation in the Gallery of the Art of the Western World, “A Self to Recover: Embodying Sylvia Plath’s ‘Ariel’” will be displayed now through Jan. 27.
Works by four artists depict “the themes of subjugation and liberation” found in Plath’s “Ariel” poem series, according to the event listing.

Sleigh Bells

9 p.m. today

The Bluebird

Brooklyn-based music duo Sleigh Bells will perform tonight at the Bluebird. Hip-hop producer AraabMuzik will also perform. Tickets are still available and cost $20-25. Students can buy discount tickets at the WIUX station house.

New Exhibits

Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center

Work by three artists, William Fillmore, Carol Myers and Barry Barnes, and Ivy Tech Arts students will be on display from Nov. 2 to Dec. 1. The opening reception will be Nov. 2.

Jazz Fables Quintet

8-10:30 p.m. Nov 2

Café Django

The Jazz Fables Quintet will play the work of John Coltrane this Friday. Tom Walsh, tenor sax, David Miller, trumpet, flugelhorn, Luke Gillespie, piano, Anna Butterss, bass and Ben Lumsdaine, drums, will perform.

There is a $5 admission fee.
