The Bishop features hip-hop artists

An event featuring underground independent hip-hop artists starts at 9:30 p.m. today at the Bishop Bar. Touring acts Ceschi and Louis Logic will make a stop in Bloomington specifically for the show.

“Ceschi and Logic are actually on tour right now,” said local hip-hop artist Lucas Sowders, L-ION, coordinator of the event. “They got ahold of me through Facebook about coming to town. I just recently moved back to town from Colorado, where I met them. I told them how great Bloomington was, and I thought a lot of college kids would enjoy their show.”

Sowders said he is excited they are coming to town.

“I feel that not a lot of indy hip-hop comes to Bloomington,” Sowders said. “It’s just a matter of getting it here.”

L-ION and 3rd Eye Visionaries will be the local acts performing alongside Ceschi and Logic.

“The emphasis here is on trying to get support for underground, independent artists,” Sowders said.

Sowders said Ceschi’s performance is “unique.”

“He puts on a really great show,” Sowders said. “It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen, across the board, in a couple of years, and not just because I like hip-hop ... He plays
guitar, raps and sings, so it’s a good fit.”

Sowders said he looks forward to a great turnout.

“I think the fact we’re adding people no one around here has seen before is creating a buzz,” Sowders said.
