‘Blood of Jesus’ (1941)

“Blood,” written, directed and produced by Spencer Williams, features an all-African-American cast and was the first race film added to the National Film Registry. Northwestern University scholar Jacqueline Stewart will
introduce the film. (Free)

2012 Sylvia Plath Symposium Program

8 p.m. Friday

The cinema will screen short films, including Sandra Lahire’s short film “Lady Lazarus,”  to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Plath’s posthumous poem collection
“Ariel.” (Free)

‘In a Glass Cage’ (1987)

11:59 p.m. Friday

“Cage” follows the story of Klaus, a former Nazi death camp doctor, who
continues to torture children while hiding in Spain after the war ends. Tickets for the Spanish-language film cost $3.

‘Bride of Frankenstein’ (1935) and ‘Freaks’ (1932)

3 p.m. Saturday

“Bride of Frankenstein” will begin this City Lights Film Series double feature.  “Freaks,” the second feature, weaves the tale of a trapeze artist named Cleopatra who marries a wealthy sideshow freak for his money. (Free)
