After a slow start during which it was shooting less than 35 percent from the floor, the IU men’s basketball team ran out to a large lead and maintained it, closing out the first 20 minutes against Ball State with a 50-19 lead.
After leading just 10-8 against the Cardinals with 14:00 remaining in the half, the Hoosiers went on a 40-11 to close out the half to lead by 31.
The Hoosiers were led by senior guard Jordan Hulls with 12 points, just 0.2 points off his average of 12.2 so far this season.
Hulls was 4-4 from the floor, including 2-2 from 3-point range.
IU, as a team, shot 4-8 from long-range, compared to Ball State’s one make on seven attempts in the first half.
One of the few low points in the half, though, was IU’s 40 percent shooting from the free throw line. Sophomore center Cody Zeller was 0-1 from the charity stripe and is shooting just under 60 percent on the season after hitting more than 75 percent of his free throws last season.
