Latimer named Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week

IU vs. SCSU

Following his performance against Iowa last Saturday, IU sophomore wide receiver Cody Latimer was named Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week Monday morning.

Sharing the award with Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez, it is Latimer’s first time being recognized by the conference for a game’s performance.

In the Hoosiers’ 24-21 victory against the Hawkeyes, Latimer caught seven passes for 113 receiving yards. He also had three touchdown receptions from sophomore quarterback Cam Coffman, including a game-winning 30-yard pass in the fourth quarter.

He is the first Hoosier to make three touchdown catches since Tandon Doss at Purdue on Nov. 27, 2010. Latimer is tied for the second most touchdown receptions in a single game in school history.

His recognition marks the first time in more than two years that a Hoosier has been awarded by the Big Ten for a game’s performance.

The last player to do so was former quarterback Ben Chappell on Sept. 20, 2010, when he threw for 366 passing yards and three touchdowns en route to a 38-21 victory against
Western Kentucky.
