After 20 minutes of action, the IU men's basketball team leads Butler 37-33 in the first game of the afternoon in the Close the Gap Crossroads Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The lead switched back and forth several times in the first half, and neither team led by more than seven points.
Junior guard Victor Oladipo was the only Hoosier with much of an offensive touch in the first half.
Oladipo leads IU with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. He provided the energy midway through the first half, scoring eight of IU's 10 points during a 3:33 stint where IU went from down four points to up a three point lead at 15-12.
Freshman guard Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell added seven and sophomore forward Cody Zeller scored 6, but Zeller continued to struggle from the charity stripe this season, going just 2-for-5 from the free throw line.
Freshman forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea also made his IU debut in the first half coming out of a timeout with just a few seconds remaining. His counterpart, fellow-freshman center Peter Jurkin is yet to make it on the court this season after both finished up serving nine-game suspensions.
