After a week in college basketball that left previously unbeaten Duke, Michigan, Wyoming and Arizona all with losses, IU moved up to No. 2 in the polls by the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches.
The top five teams are identical in both polls: Louisville is No. 1, Duke and Michigan dropped to No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, and Kansas is No. 4.
IU received first-place votes for the first time since its loss to Butler on Dec. 15 that dropped it from No. 1 in the polls. IU received 13 out of 65 first-place votes in the AP Poll and six out of 31 in the Coaches’ Poll.
The top five teams in the AP Poll all received first-place votes, while only the top three did in the Coaches’ Poll.
Six Big Ten teams — Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan State and Illinois, in addition to IU and Michigan — ranked in both polls.
