A Recital of Hispanic Ballads featuring Tomás Lozano

7-9 p.m. Ford-Crawford Hall (2nd floor of the Simon Music Center)

Tomás Lozano is a musician, scholar and writer born in Barcelona, Spain, to Andalusian parents. He will sing and accompany himself on guitar, hurdy-gurdy and tambourine. This performance and lecture is free and open to the public.

Wednesday

Art Museum Student Organization — Art After Dark

7-9 p.m. IU Art Museum

The Art Museum Student Organization is pairing up with BCEC for Art After Dark — a free concert at the IU Art Museum. The night will include free food catered by Angle’s Cafe and Scholar’s Inn Bakehouse, free hot chocolate, Italian soda samples and performances by four local Bloomington bands.

Japanese Conversation Club

5:30-7 p.m. Read Hall Clark Lounge

Those learning Japanese are welcome to this informal gathering to practice Japanese conversation skills. Those from Japan needing help with their English skills are also welcome to help students speak Japanese and learn English conversation along the way.

Thursday

FAFSA Help Session

6-9 p.m. La Casa Latino Cultural Center

Students have the chance to fill out the FAFSA while experts are on hand to help with any questions. Students are encouraged to visit www.FAFSA.gov for more information on the documents needed and to apply for a PIN number before coming to one of the help sessions.

HHart: Arts Showcase and Gala

7:30-10:30 p.m. Hutton Honors College

The Hutton Honors College and the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program are presenting the third annual Arts Showcase and Gala. The event will feature undergraduate student artwork in a variety of mediums, including 2-D, 3-D and dance.

Akhenaten

8 p.m. Musical Arts Center

Akhenaten is a production by famed composer Philip Glass. Based on the life and religious convictions of Pharaoh Akhenaten, “whose inner vision transformed the age in which he lived,” the opera is sung in English, Akkadian and Biblical Hebrew and will include English supertitles.
