Zeller, Hulls named Academic All-Americans

Sophomore forward Cody Zeller and senior guard Jordan Hulls were each named among 15 Division 1 basketball players on the 2012-13 Capitol One Academic All-American Team. IU is the only school with multiple players selected.

Zeller made the first-team while Hulls received third-team honors. The last Hoosier on the team was Luke Recker in 1999.

“I believe Cody and Jordan represent exactly what we expect an Indiana basketball player to embody,” IU Coach Tom Crean said in a press release.  “I think their achievements academically is in direct proportion to the success they are having on the court.  You can’t have one without the other.  They are outstanding young men.”

Zeller has a 3.44 GPA majoring in Business while averaging 16.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest on the court. His older brother, Tyler, was named to the team last year while playing for North Carolina.

Hulls is a graduate student in athletic administration after completing his degree in exercise science in three years. He is averaging 10.8 points per game this season.

Ohio State’s Aaron Craft was named All-American Team Member of the year, the only other Big Ten Player on the list.

Indiana natives Mason Plumlee of Duke and Andrew Smith of Butler were also honored.
