Armed men allegedly enter apartment, take cash

Several men, at least one brandishing a handgun, reportedly entered a Bloomington woman’s apartment early Saturday morning and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Bloomington Police Department responded to the area of Kirkwood Avenue and Washington Street at about 2 a.m. Saturday after the woman, 19, and a male friend reported an armed robbery, Sgt. Joseph Crider said.

The woman was inside her north side apartment with two female guests when a group of males, at least one of them armed, reportedly entered and robbed them of money.

Prior to contacting police, Crider said, the woman contacted a male friend who was at the apartment complex at the time of the incident but not inside the woman’s apartment.

The two told police they believed they could locate one of the suspects in the Kirkwood Avenue area and left the complex to search for him.

While out, they notified an IU police officer, who directed them to contact BPD.

Investigators interviewed the man and the woman, and a detective is following up on the case.
