Bloomington police is investigating an incident involving a report of a woman found in an Americas Best Value Inn stairwell who claimed she might have been sexually assaulted.
Police responded to the hotel at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday after a front desk clerk called to report a 35-year-old male guest had found the woman in a stairwell, Sgt. Joseph Crider said.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the front desk clerk, who could not provide further information. Police also searched stairwells and public access areas for the woman and the 35-year-old guest but failed to locate either individual. Officers also went to the 35-year-old guest’s room, but he was not present.
The case remains active and has been forwarded to the detective division for further investigation, Crider said.
