The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a reported assault of a woman rollerblading on the B-Line Trail Sunday afternoon.
The victim, 23, told police she was skating eastbound on the trail between Fairview and Adams streets at about 1:30 p.m. when an unknown man standing on the south side of the trail approached her, BPD Sgt. Jeff Canada said.
Police have yet to locate the suspect, who Canada described as a man with buzzed, light brown hair, short stature and medium build.
The man, who was reportedly wearing a gray sweat suit and appeared to be in his mid-20s, tackled the woman to the ground and struck her multiple times in the head, the victim told police. The man told the woman to “shut up” as she yelled.
A woman about 100 meters away saw the incident, called 911 and yelled at the suspect to stop, Canada said. The suspect then fled westbound on the trail.
The victim sustained minor cuts and bruises on her arms and legs and reported head pains. She was transported to Bloomington Hospital, Canada said.
