Women reports possible sexual battery

A woman reported a possible sexual battery after an encounter with a man at a party late Thursday or early Friday near East 10th Street and North Park Avenue.

The victim told police she began talking to a man whom she had met at the party when the two agreed to retreat into a different area of the house to take shots, Sgt. Lucas Tate said.

They attempted to enter a bedroom, but they decided to go into a bathroom upon discovering the bedroom door was locked, Tate said.

The victim told police she and the man began to kiss, and the man proceeded to inappropriately touch her groin. The encounter ended after a friend of the man knocked on the bathroom door looking for him.

Tate said the woman exited the bathroom, followed by the man, and the woman left the party with a friend.

The victim reported the incident Friday evening.

The man has been interviewed by police, Tate said, and the case remains open.
