On May 23, a report was submitted to the Bloomington Police Department by the Child Protective Services identifying a possible child molestation, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.
A follow-up forensic interview conducted May 29 at Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center led to statements made by the 10-year-old that were indicative of abuse, Crider said. The victim’s manner and demeanor were also indicative of abuse.
The suspect, a 41-year-old male, was suspected of molesting the 10-year-old girl. The victim’s biological mother is believed to be married to the suspect but the suspect is not the girl’s biological father.
The victim was removed from the mother’s residence in April due to an unrelated report received by the Child Protective Services.
The case remains active as of Friday morning, Crider said.
