Creek to play at George Washington

Former IU guard Maurice Creek announced via Twitter Friday morning that he will play at George Washington next season.

Creek will be immediately eligible for the Colonials.

The rising senior from Oxon Hill, Md., announced April 24 that he intended to leave the Hoosier program.

In that announcement, he said he was seeking more playing time.

George Washington finished the 2012-13 season 13-17 and failed to make a postseason appearance. It lost in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

The Colonials graduated five players, and return two players who appear to be wing players.

Creek averaged 7.2 points in 54 career games with the Hoosiers. Last season, he appeared in 24 games, playing 186 minutes, an average of 7.8 minutes per game. His first two seasons he played over 20 minutes a game.

Injuries caused Creek to miss all of the Big Ten schedule his freshman year. He had surgery on Jan. 20, 2011 that caused him to miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season. He missed the entire 2011-12 season with an Achilles injury.

George Washington is close to home for the 6-foot-5-inch wing player, as the Washington, D.C. campus is approximately 12 miles away from his hometown.
