The IU football team unveiled five new helmets for the 2013 season Monday in a YouTube video. The team will use each helmet at least once during the upcoming season, as well as the traditional crimson helmet with the IU trident logo on each side.
In the video, athletes could be seen taking pictures of the helmets as soon as they were unveiled, and senior wide receiver Kofi Hughes said, “Oh my God” after seeing the chrome candy-stripe helmet for the first time.
Junior running back D’Angelo Roberts collapsed to the ground after Hughes came out and modeled the chrome helmet for the team.
Other helmets include an Indiana state flag on one side, two Cream and Crimson helmets (one with numbers on the side, one with the IU logo on each side) and a retro Block I helmet paying homage to Indiana’s past.
