A 47-year old man was arrested Thursday after a dispute with his wife about his sobriety turned violent, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.
Michael Edward Krznar was arrested Thursday after a dispute with his 35-year-old wife and taken to the hospital, then jail. He faces preliminary counts of felony strangulation, misdemeanor domestic battery and public intoxication.
Police were called to the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and Walnut Street around 5:30 Thursday by a third-party witness who saw the two arguing. The witness reported seeing Krznar angrily touch his wife during the dispute.
Police interviewed the wife, who said she had confronted him about his drinking after he had said he would stop.
She said when she told him she was ending the relationships, he grabbed her by her her and pulled her back, causing her to drop her phone. When she bent down to pick it up, he began chocking her, causing her pain and leaving her unable to breathe.
Krznar admitted to a verbal altercation but denied any battery.
Officers found red marks on her neck consistent with strangulation. Based on that, along with the wife's and witness' testimony, Krznar was arrested.
