The Bloomington Police Department believes it is closing in on an arrest in an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning, BPD Sgt. Steve Kellams said.
A suspect is in custody, and Kellams said late Wednesday morning he believes an arrest is "imminent."
At approximately 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, a couple and their 2-year-old child in Colonial Crest apartments on the 700 block of North Gourley Pike awoke to find a man holding them at gunpoint and demanding money. He punched the male victim in the head, who fought back. The intruder then fled the apartment. No money was taken.
The invader was described as a black male standing roughly 6-feet tall and 220 pounds wearing red athletics shorts, a black shirt and a bandana. Police apprehended a suspect matching the description in the apartment complex Wednesday morning.
