2 children report attempted abduction

Two Fairview Elementary school students have reported to their school social worker that a man attempted to lure them into his car with candy.

An 11-year-old female reported a white male in his mid-50s to early 60s asked her if she wanted some candy at about 4 p.m. Aug. 26, near 11th and Adams streets, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said. 

The man was also described as balding, with a beard and driving a green-colored minivan with silver hubcaps.

An 11-year-old male reported a man with similar features also asked if he wanted candy about two months ago near 14th and Illinois streets, Crider said. This time, the suspect was driving a white-colored van.

The students reported the information to the social worker at 10:42 a.m., Aug. 27. The case is still active and police are in the process of reviewing video footage from Crestmont Apartments.
