Arts Commission releases revised guidelines, applications for program

The City of Bloomington Arts Commission announced revised guidelines for its 2013 Arts Project Grant Program.

With the revised guidelines, the commission also announced new applications for the program, which will be due no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 1.

The grants are available for arts activities intersecting with areas of focus for the
commission.

The maximum grant amount is $1,200.

Areas of focus include cultivating a community that appreciates the value of artistic activities and supporting local artists and organizations.

Additionally, the commission announced it will be host to an upcoming workshop for potential applicants. The workshop will occur 4 p.m. Sept. 11 in the McCloskey Room in City Hall.

Through these workshops, potential applicants can review and gain feedback on work from their peers.

The arts project is part of the BAC’s mission to expand the economic development potential for local arts, according to the City of Bloomington’s official website.

According to reports from Americans for the Arts, Bloomington received $72.3 million in revenue from its nonprofit arts sector in 2012.
