Campus Access, I-BUCKS change for new students

ID card changes

Residential Programs and Services is implementing a new card-reader system this year in Rose Avenue and Eigenmann residence halls.

Instead of swiping student ID cards to enter either building, students will have to hold their ID cards to proximity-card readers to unlock doors.

For all new students, ID card models have changed from last year. All returning students living in Rose and Eigenmann will also receive new cards to account for the change.

Sara Ivey Lucas, assistant director for Housing Assignments at RPS, said the new student IDs offer a longer life expectancy than previous cards. She also said the cards are slightly more expensive than the previous cards, and it will now cost more to replace a lost ID.

Automatic I-Bucks

All first-year students living on campus will now automatically receive a $100 I-Bucks deposit on their Campus Access accounts — $50 for the first semester and $50 for the second semester.

Students may now use these I-Bucks at the Indiana Memorial Union and at all campus services as soon as they arrive.

The $100 deposit has been billed to each student’s bursar account and was accounted for as a meal plan increase.
