Man fends off robber with knife

A would-be robber would have stolen a Bloomington man's bag, but rather than surrendering, the victim pulled out a knife.

The 20-year-old man reported the attempted robbery around 10 p.m. Sept. 6. The victim was walking behind Best Buy, 2721 E. 3rd St., to his residence when the robber approached him.

The robber, described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s and about 5-foot-10 wearing baggy jeans and a gray or brown T-shirt, told the victim to drop his backpack.

The victim then pulled a knife from his backpack and the suspect fled without stealing anything.

The suspect never displayed a weapon and neither party were injured.
