Fell Street Party kickstarts radio fundraiser

The Fell Street Party, an event sponsored by WFHB Radio Station and presented by Upland Brewery and Rainbow Bakery, will begin tonight at Thrive Health and Wellbeing and the I-Fell Building.

Admission is free, and the event will occur from 6 to 9 p.m. This event also supports WFHB’s Fall Fund Drive kickoff.

WFHB is Indiana’s first community radio station, run mostly by volunteers since 1993.

“This will be WFHB’s Fall Fund Drive Kickoff Street Party,” WFHB volunteer worker Rick Wells said. “Our yearly opening fundraiser events usually run for a week. This year our fundraiser starts on Oct. 4 and runs through the 11th.”

According to wfhb.org, all WFHB donors will receive a classic Special Fund Premium coffee mug.

Each building will have their first Friday gallery opening reception, featuring rising artists such as Barb Bonchek, Erin Tobey, Dan Antes, Angela Caldwell, J.A. Hartenfeld and Kim Ransdell.

These artists’ works will feature mediums such as jewelry, mixed media, dioramas, patterns and symbolic glass.

Rainbow Bakery will feature an official reception of mixed media work done by Tobey. Her artwork displays unique dioramas of people.

I-Fell Building’s reception will promote the theme “Patterns.” Symbolic glass and jewelry artworks will be featured.

Upland Brewery will be one of the top suppliers, as it’s donating beer. This event will celebrate its Oktoberfest-themed traditional all-German malts and rare German hops.

Bloomington’s new vegan pastry shop, Rainbow Bakery will also help with supplying refreshments and food for the event.

It will give away a slightly smaller selection from its menu, such as its cakes, donuts, cupcakes and other baked goods.

“We will be supplying our special vegan cupcakes, which come in varieties such as lavender, cookies and cream, and chai latte,” Rainbow Bakery associate Christina Yates said. “There will also be some other seasonal items that will be offered, such as pumpkin apple cider, maple and cinnamon sugar donuts.”

The Rainbow Bakery shop will also have extended hours that day, staying open until 9 p.m., two hours later than its normal closing time.

This event will also feature musical acts such as Tom Roznowski, Grey Larsen and Cindy Kallet, Garden of Joy and dwBryskalski.
