John Gregg, Democratic candidate for governor in 2012, announced Wednesday he will not seek the nomination for governor in 2016.
“I have always been about more than ‘politics,’ and over 10 years ago I stepped back from the political world and its demands to focus on my family,” Gregg said in a letter.
Gregg said he is making the same decision to focus on his family but plans to stay involved with issues important to him.
According to the Indiana Secretary of State’s website, Gov. Mike Pence won the gubernatorial race with 49.5 percent of votes. Gregg received 46.6 percent of votes.
“I hope you accept my decision and will support it,” Gregg concluded in the letter. “As you know, faith is very important to me, and I am confident in knowing that, whereas I may not know what the future holds for me, I know ‘Who’ holds the future.”
