The Bloomington Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up call at about 3:30 a.m. Oct. 1 at the Motel 6 in the 1800 Block of North Walnut Street.
A 56-year-old male called police, reporting 39-year-old Brian Manning of Goshen, Ind., entered his room uninvited, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.
The victim asked Manning to leave, but said Manning battered him and struck him in the face. He said he was also sexually assaulted and threatened with a folding knife.
The victim said he believes Manning entered his room through an unlocked front door.
An officer noticed a contusion above the victim’s right eye and said the victim was very upset.
The victim said the fight occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Sept. 30 and 1 a.m. Oct. 1. After the fight, Manning left the room and returned to the room he was renting at the motel.
Manning was located by detectives by a room keycard found on the floor of the
victim’s room. Manning initially denied being in the victim’s room, but later admitted to being in a purely verbal fight.
He then later said he didn’t remember what occurred while he was in the victim’s room.
An officer noted Manning was wearing a cast on his hand which looked to have blood stains on it.
Both the victim and Manning were transported to BPD for questioning.
Manning was interviewed, arrested and charged with two counts of criminal deviant conduct.
