Applications have been posted online for students to run for a Union Board director position.
Students may apply online at the Union Board website, ub.indiana.edu, until 7 p.m. Nov. 8.
Asher Wittenberg, director of the concerts committee, and other Union Board members will lead the first informational sessions on Oct. 29 and Nov. 4.
A mandatory meeting will occur on the same day the applications are due.
“The first two will be a Q-and-A and a good time to ask personal questions,” Wittenberg said. “The informational meeting on the 8th will be mandatory for all applicants.”
Students interested in applying have to be graduating in December 2014 or later, maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average, take at least three credit hours at IU, and be available for board meetings every Thursday evening. No previous experience is required.
Wittenberg said most people get involved with Union Board to make a difference on campus and to gain leadership experience.
“I knew that Union Board would provide me an outlet to program events, help students and give me all the tools necessary to do it,” Wittenberg said.
After applying for a director position and attending the information session, students will begin campaigning and participating in the election process.
A campus-wide vote for this year’s candidates will occur Nov. 19 and 20.
“I got to pursue my passion and get the experience that I thought would help me get a future career and occupation,” Wittenberg said.
