Gordon helps IU to 81-54 victory

The Hoosiers cruised to a win against Oakland tonight off a near career-night from graduate student guard Evan Gordon, who scored 26 points in IU’s 81-54 win.

Gordon’s career-high came last season on Dec. 1 while he was with Arizona State playing Sacramento State.

The Hoosiers set a season-high with nine 3-pointers made, going 9-for-21 from the floor.

The Hoosiers also excelled in shutting down Oakland’s Travis Bader, who came into tonight’s game one of the nation’s top 3-point shooters. Bader missed all 10 of his attempts from beyond the arc and finished with 11 points off a 2-for-15 night from the field.

Freshman forward Troy Williams followed Gordon with 13 points. He had scored 11 by halftime. The other Hoosier in double figures was sophomore guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell who tossed in 11 points, including a 3-for-8 mark from the 3-point line.

Freshman forward Noah Vonleh fell just short of his seventh double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Sophomore forward Jeremy Hollowell also pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points and a career-high four assists.
