Downtown Gallery Walk opens Friday

Eleven art galleries in downtown Bloomington will participate Friday in the Gallery Walk.

The walk is a self-guided tour highlighting new exhibitions by national and international artists.

The event is scheduled to run from 5 to 8 p.m. The galleries, all located within walking distance of one another, have planned special events and receptions with a variety of atmospheres.

Participating galleries include By Hand Gallery, Pictura Gallery, the Venue Fine Art & Gifts and Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center, among others.

The art forms shown range from jewelry and fiber art to more traditional forms such as sculpture and painting.

Friday’s walk is the first of six Gallery Walk events that will take place this year.
