Monroe County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Bloomington man Sunday for assisting in the manufacture of methamphetamine in his home for more than a year.
In February, state troopers served a search warrant for Kevin Norris Tate’s home on the 4000 block of N. Hartstrait Road., according to court documents. Police found numerous precursors used for manufacturing methamphetamine, including pseudoephedrine, lithium, sodium hydroxide, ammonium nitrate and sulfuric acid.
Police also found lithium stripping and blister packages of pseudoephedrine which indicated previous manufacturing.
Gregory Dyer was arrested Feb. 13 for dealing and manufacturing methamphetamine. He bonded out of jail the same day. Dyer also has a pending case in the Elkhart Superior Court for battery resulting in bodily injury charges filed in 2013.
Tate, 28, told police in February that he helped Dyer manufacture methamphetamine in his home in exchange for part of Dyer’s earnings from selling the methamphetamine, according to court documents.
In early March the Monroe County Fifth Circuit Court found probable cause and issued a warrant for Tate’s arrest. Tate also has several prior pending cases in Monroe County, which include charges of arson with intent to fraud.
Tate faces preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, a class B felony, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of precursors with intent to manufacture, both class D felonies, with an initial hearing scheduled for Friday.
