Noah Vonleh was selected ninth overall in the 2014 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets Thursday night.
The former the Hoosier standout was drafted slightly lower than projections, but makes it the second straight year that a Hoosier was taken in the lottery.
Going along with Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller, who were taken second and fourth overall in last year's draft, it marks the first time three Hoosiers have been picked in the top 10 in a two-year span since 1976 and 1977.
Vonleh will join Zeller, who was drafted fourth overall by the Hornets franchise in the 2013 NBA draft.
The Haverhill, Mass. native will join a Hornets team that made it to the playoffs for only the second time in their franchise's 10-year history last season.
Other forwards on the team include Zeller, Al Jefferson, Josh McRoberts, Bismack Biyombo and former Hoosier DJ White.
Vonleh left IU after his freshman season, averaging 11 points and nine rebounds an IU team that finished 7-11 in the Big Ten.
"Welcome to Charlotte @NoahVonleh!!!" Zeller tweeted after Vonleh was selected.
