The two programs’ proximity and success have bred a fiercely competitive rivalry.Dylan Mares has switched allegiances, transferring from Louisville to IU in the spring. The junior midfielder said he expects the match to be “a brawl.”
iU at Wisconsin — 8:30 p.m. Oct 11, Madison, Wis.Traditionally a non-contender in Big Ten men’s soccer, the Wisconsin Badgers have lined themselves up for a shot at the championship this season, but will need to secure a win against IU at home to do so.IU Coach Todd Yeagley, who coached the Badgers in 2009, is 1-1-1 against his former team since taking the IU job in 2010.
IU at Northwestern — 8 p.m. Nov 8, Evanston, Ill.In a match that could decide a conference championship, IU will travel to the Chicago suburbs for its final Big Ten regular season game against two-time defending conference champion Northwestern.The Hoosiers have not defeated the Wildcats on the road since 2007, when then-Coach Mike Freitag’s squad earned a 1-0 victory and clinched a first-place finish in the Big Ten regular season.
