IU defeats UIndy 76-63 in exhibition

IU defeated Indianapolis 76-63 in the Hoosiers second and final preseason exhibition game.

IU used a 22-0 run to close out the first half to take a 42-28 lead into halftime.

The Hoosiers held the Greyhounds scoreless from 7:37 left in the first half until 19:33 remained in the second half during the run.

UIndy came out of halftime strong, eventually cutting the lead to as little as seven points with 12:10 left before IU once again took control of the game.

IU was once again without a pair of forwards in sophomore Troy Williams and Emitt Holt as well as sophomore guard Stanford Robinson.

Junior guard Yogi Ferrell led IU in scoring with 19 points off an efficient 7-of-11 shooting night.

Junior guard Nick Zeisloft, who scored 24 points in IU’s opening game against Northwood, had a less impressive night. He finished with just four points, all coming from free throws.

Freshman guard Robert Johnson spent time running the point guard position for IU and finished with a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Rebounding was an issue for IU, who once again started four guards. UIndy outrebounded IU 41-35 and picked up 22 offensive boards.

IU will open its regular season Friday against Mississippi Valley State.
