IU leads Eastern Washington 41-35 at the half

IU threatened to run away from Eastern Washington in the opening minutes, but leads just 41-35 at halftime.

The Hoosiers scored on each of their first six possessions to take an early 14-2 lead, but the Eagles immediately responded with a run of their own to take the lead with eight minutes and 18 seconds left in the half.

Sophomore forward Troy Williams led the Hoosiers with 10 points and five rebounds, but committed a pair of ugly turnovers on passes directly to defenders. Junior guard Yogi Ferrell added eight points, two rebounds and three assists.

Hanner Mosquera-Perea, who has started every game this season, found himself on the bench for most of the first half. The junior forward played just six minutes as IU Coach Tom Crean opted for smaller lineups.

IU slowed its assault from behind the 3-point line, attempting just eight shots from deep in the first half. Freshman guards James Blackmon, Jr. and Robert Johnson and junior guard Nick Zeisloft each hit a 3-pointer.

Eastern Washington guard Drew Brandon led his team with eight points and three rebounds. The Eagles, who lead the country by attempting 54 percent of their field goals from 3-point range, shot just 2-of-7 from long distance.
