Pittsburgh's size and physicality were supposed to be too much for an undersized IU team.
The Hoosiers flipped the script on that thought, scoring 48 points in the paint en route to an 81-69 win in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Freshman forward Emmitt Holt put together his best performance in an IU uniform, scoring a team-high 15 points and collecting five rebounds. He made all six of his shots from the field and three of his four free throws.
Freshman guard James Blackmon, Jr., and junior guard Yogi Ferrell were the only other Hoosiers in double figures, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively.
IU stifled Pittsburgh's offense with its zone defense, holding the Panthers to just 36 percent shooting from the field.
The win takes IU to 6-1 on the season. The Hoosiers take the floor again Saturday night against Grand Canyon.
