IU gets blown out in two dual meets

Two meets, two losses.

The IU wrestling team lost two Big Ten dual during the weekend. First they fell to Penn State (6-0, 1-0) by a score of 42-3. Next came a 36-3 loss to Illinois (8-1, 2-0) in Bloomington.

IU (2-4, 0-3) won only one match in each meet, and both came from No. 4-ranked senior Taylor Walsh. He took down Garrett Hammond of Penn State before defeating No. 8 Jackson Morse of Illinois. Walsh pinned Morse in the Midlands semifinal two weeks ago.

The rematch was a tightly-contested battle, but a takedown in the final period sealed a 4-2 victory for Walsh. He now stands at 24-2 on the season with 18 pins.

Other than Walsh, the Hoosiers lost every match during the weekend. Junior heavyweight Garret Goldman lost in extra time to Brooks Black despite defeating him at Midlands.

No. 19 sophomore Nate Jackson lost to the No. 6-ranked 174-pounder Zac Brunson by decision.

IU will take on Northwestern at 1 p.m. Sunday in Bloomington.
