EAST LANSING, MICH. -- At halftime, IU is shooting 17.9 percent from the floor, 9.1 percent from 3-point range and has a minus-13 rebounding margin against Michigan State.
Those numbers are ugly. The worse figure is the halftime scoreline: IU trails Michigan State, 36-17, after the first half.
A stagnant Hoosier offense contributed to the strikingly low shooting percentages. Too often, a lack of ball movement forced IU to one-on-one basketball, resulting in a number of bad shots. The result – IU shot just 5-of-28 from the field in the first half.
Junior guard Yogi Ferrell leads all scorers with nine points.
Eight Michigan State players have made a field goal, including six Spartan dunks. The Spartans have dominated the offensive glass, rebounding 12 of their 19 missed shots.
Branden Dawson tallied eight points and seven rebounds in the half to lead Michigan State.
