For the third time in the Under 20s CONCACAF Championships, former IU soccer player Tommy Thompson was in the starting lineup for the United States.
Thompson played 45 minutes in the United States’ 8-0 win against Aruba on Wednesday, scoring the Americans’ fourth goal in the 27th minute. Thompson was subbed out at the start of the second half.
It was the first win in three tries for the United States in the CONCACAF Championships after drawing 1-1 against Guatemala and losing 1-0 against Panama. Thompson played a full 90 minutes against Guatemala but was subbed out in the 68th minute against Panama.
The United States will play at 8 p.m. Sunday against Jamaica in a match that will be televised on Fox Sports 2.
