FINAL: IU loses 68-66

Twice Yogi Ferrell had a chance to win or force overtime just before time expired, and twice he came up short.

IU fell to No. 19 Maryland 68-66 despite 23 points from Ferrell. He connected on 6-of-9 shots from beyond the arc, but missed his final effort.

All IU Coach Tom Crean could do was hug Ferrell after the final miss. The Hoosiers came close, but the Terrapins held on.

What ultimately might come back to haunt the Hoosiers was an inability to make 2-pointers.

IU missed too many layups, including a wide-open look by Collin Hartman with the game tied in the closing minutes, and Maryland connected on a few too many 3-pointers.

Maryland had three players finish with double-digit scoring, led by Dez Wells who had 18. The Terrapins connected on 10-of-21 3-point attempts.

Newly added forward Jordan Fuchs dressed, but did not play for IU. Junior forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea had four points in his first road game since returning to the court.
