For IU, the biggest threat was Frank Kaminsky. Wisconsin's 7-foot center is a National Player of the Year candidate, a walking double-double standing six inches taller than his Hoosier counterpart.
In one half, Kaminsky confirmed those fears. The Badger senior scored 14 points to propel No. 5 Wisconsin to a 44-36 lead. Sophomore forward Nigel Hayes added 11 points of his own — neither Badger missed a shot in the half.
IU found itself down early, on the losing end of a 9-0 run to start the game. The Hoosiers responded by putting together a 13-2 run of their own.
The 3-point shot was IU's key to counter Wisconsin's size. The Hoosiers shot 8-of-11 from deep, including 3-of-4 from junior guard Nick Zeisloft, who started in place of injured freshman guard James Blackmon Jr.
Blackmon suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's win against Rutgers and is unlikely to play tonight.
