Sheehey requests trade from Mad Ants

Former Hoosier Will Sheehey’s return to Indiana is over.

Sheehey requested a trade from the NBA D-League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants and has been removed from the team’s active roster, according to a story from the Journal Gazette’s Justin A. Cohn.mh

His Mad Ants career lasted eight games. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.9 assists per game since joining the team last month after a brief stint in Montenegro. He started three times and recorded a career-high 15 points against Maine on Jan. 31.mh

The former-Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year’s playing time had dipped during the last five games with the return of Trey McKinney-Jones from injury. He played just seven minutes and shot 0-for-5 in the past two contests.mh

Sheehey graduated after last season and went undrafted. He tried out for several NBA teams and played for the New York Knicks in the Summer League before signing with Montenegro.mh

As a senior at IU, Sheehey averaged 11.4 points and four rebounds per game. He finished his Hoosier career with 1,120 points.mh
