Abortion redefinition bill hits House floor

A bill to redefine abortion in Indiana was heard for the second time in the Indiana House of Representatives on Monday.

The legislation, Senate Bill 546, amends the definition of an abortion clinic, requires certain medical waivers when a woman is looking to have an abortion performed and includes a number of reporting requirements for abortions that are performed using abortion-inducing drugs.

State Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle, is one of the authors of the bill and has made legislative attempts in the past to regulate abortion in Indiana.

The bill has been placed on the schedule for today’s session and will receive a final vote in the Senate.
