After one half of play, IU trails Maryland 42-40 in the third round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Sophomore forward Troy Williams had a team-high 10 points to lead the Hoosiers, but also picked up three fouls.
Maryland established a lead early thanks to some sloppy play by IU helping the Terrapins to a 9-0 run. The Hoosiers had eight turnovers in the first.
Williams tied the game at 32-32 just before the final media timeout of the half. Maryland made another run shortly after which IU answered with a run and a 3-pointer from freshman guard James Blackmon Jr. to tie the game at 38-38 with 61 seconds left in the half.
Both teams seem content with a high-paced game. That was the same in the first two matchups that the two split in the regular season.
Junior forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea did not play after injuring his knee in IU’s second-round win against Northwestern. He didn’t walk with a considerable limp, but did not fully participate in warmups.
Sophomore forward Collin Hartman started in his place and had two points and one rebound. Freshman Emmitt Holt also got time at center and had three points and four rebounds.
The winner of the game will go on to play the winner of Michigan State and Ohio State tomorrow.
