Hartman's status remains in question

Collin Hartman’s bone bruise on his left leg is healing, but IU Coach Tom Crean said he “would not hold out hope” that Hartman be ready to play Wednesday against Iowa.

The sophomore forward suffered the lower leg injury in IU’s Feb. 22 win against Rutgers. He did not participate in live drills as of Sunday and was officially listed by Crean as “day-to-day.”

“There’s no clear cut ‘OK, he’ll be back at this time,” Crean said. “He’s very diligent in his rehab. This is really what’s going to give him a chance to be successful.

Hartman has averaged 5.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in just over 12 minutes of action in Big Ten play.

An efficient forward from beyond the arc, Hartman has connected on 17-of-32 3-pointers. Data on kenpom.com lists him at No. 7 in the nation in terms of offensive rating.

Crean said Hartman was better Sunday than he was Saturday, but his status remains uncertain. He added that the Hoosiers missed his hustle in last week’s loss to Northwestern and hope to have him back as soon as possible.

“We miss him,” Crean said.
