IU leads at halftime

CHICAGO – IU used an unlikely method to take a 36-22 lead into halftime against Northwestern – defense.

IU Coach Tom Crean said the Hoosiers would need to pressure the ball to have a chance today, and they’ve done so, stretching their defense further out in the half-court set. By consequence, Northwestern shot just 8-of-24 in the first half.

On the offensive end, IU has turned to the 3-point shot to solve its recent scoring issues. The Hoosiers took 18 3-pointers in the half, connecting on six. Freshman guard James Blackmon Jr. hit three of his six attempts.

Blackmon leads all scorers with 13 points at the break. Junior forward Yogi Ferrell has 10.
