IU women’s basketball has added junior college guard Victoria Kemokai, as confirmed by Tyler Junior College Coach Trenia Jones on Monday.
Kemokai is a 5-foot-3 guard from Houston who averaged 11.4 points per game last season for Tyler. Her 89 steals ranked No. 31 in the nation. Tyler went 30-6 on the season.
“Victoria is a great addition for us,” IU Coach Teri Moren said. “We set out to find the best available point guard in the country, and we are excited to bring her to Indiana."
Kemokai is the third guard addition in the past month, joining Marquette transfer Tia Elbert and fellow junior college add-on Tyshee Towner.
"Victoria played for a great coach in Trenia Tillis-Jones, so she knows how to play," Moren said. "She has great quickness, along with the ability to score the basketball. The one thing that set her apart from most other guards is her ability to defend. We are very excited about her ability to lead our team.”
Kemokai and Towner will be eligible next season, while Elbert will have to sit out a year due to transfer rules. Kemokai and Towner will join incoming freshmen Danielle Williams and Kym Royster, both of whom are post players.
