IU takes the series with 9-1 victory

Everything went to plan Saturday when IU defeated Ohio State 9-1 to win the series. The Hoosiers did not allow an earned run all game and put up 11 hits.

Junior pitcher Kyle Hart got the start on the mound. He pitched six innings, and the only run allowed was off of an overthrow by senior Brad Hartong. Hart gave up six hits and struck out five.

Sophomore Jake Kelzer continued what Hart started, allowing just one hit in three innings. His seven strikeouts brought the IU total to 12 as he earned the save.

At the plate, nine runs came from six different bats. Junior Brian Wilhite, who hits in the nine spot, went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Sophomore Craig Dedelow added another home run in the 7th inning.

The other four RBIs came from senior Casey Rodrigue, sophomore Austin Cangelosi and freshmen Logan Sowers and Isaiah Pasteur.

This is IU’s fifth consecutive victory and eighth in nine games. The second game of the doubleheader and last home game of the season will take place 45 minutes after the end of game two.
