Report: Michigan transfer Bielfeldt to visit IU

Former Michigan forward Max Bielfeldt will visit IU on Sunday, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Bielfeldt, a 6-foot-8, 245-pound graduate transfer, averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game last season.

After graduating from Michigan on April 2, Bielfeldt is eligible to play next season thanks to the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule. He redshirted for the Wolverines in 2011-12, then appeared in 69 games in his next three seasons in Ann Arbor.

IU currently has two scholarships available after sophomore Devin Davis and senior Hanner Mosquera-Perea were dismissed from the program Thursday. The Hoosiers have added a graduate transfer to their roster in each of the past two offseasons — Evan Gordon and Nick Zeisloft — and Bielfeldt could be next in line given his size and experience playing in the Big Ten.

After Bielfeldt and Michigan parted ways following last season, he won an appeal allowing him to transfer within the Big Ten Conference.

In addition to IU, the Michigan transfer is considering Iowa State, Nebraska, DePaul, Stanford, Kansas State and Bradley, according to the Des Moines Register.
