Two IU football players earned Big Ten honors Monday following the Hoosiers' 47-28 win Saturday at Maryland.
Senior quarterback Nate Sudfeld was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns against the Terrapins. He also ran one touchdown in on a quarterback sneak for a career-high five touchdowns.
This is Sudfeld's first time earning the award. He leads the Big Ten in passing yards per game and passing yards, among other categories.
For the second straight week, sophomore kicker Griffin Oakes was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. This time he shared the honor with Michigan State kicker Michael Geiger.
Oakes converted all four field goal attempts Saturday for the second consecutive week. This matches the IU record for field goals in a game.
Oakes leads the Big Ten with a 90.9 percent field goal conversion rate.
