IU travelled to West Lafayette, Indiana for its final regular season game of the 2015 season against Purdue. The Hoosiers won, 54-36, to boost its record to 6-6 and clinch a bowl berth.
The win makes three consecutive victories against Purdue for the first time since the 1940s.
Junior running back Jordan Howard and sophomore safety Chase Dutra were inactive at the beginning of the game, forcing sophomore running back Devine Redding to take Howard's place in the backfield.
The Hoosiers scored first as senior quarterback Nate Sudfeld hit junior receiver Mitchell Paige for a touchdown. Sudfeld would also hit sophomore receiver Simmie Cobbs, junior receiver Andre Booker and freshman substitute tight end Brandon Knight for four total touchdowns and a total of 350 yards passing. Sudfeld passed former Hoosier Antwaan Randle El to top the all-time IU passing yardage list.
IU ended the game with 309 rushing yards in total with seven players carrying the ball throughout the game.
Redding would find his stride later in the game, totaling a career-high 144 yards, including his eighth touchdown of the season and a 27-yard run where he hurdled a defender.
Purdue quarterback Austin Appleby completed 36 of his 57 passes for 332 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Senior defensive lineman Nick Mangieri sacked Appleby twice, and the Hoosiers have sacked Appleby six times as a team and tackled Purdue ball carriers behind the line of scrimmage 10 times.
